In wake of the news that the government has decided to phase out DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), we would like to make you aware that:
- USCIS will no longer be accepting initial requests for DACA, but will adjudicate initial requests for DACA received for processing by Sept. 5, 2017.
- Advance parole requests associated with DACA will no longer be approved (there is no guidance currently on how pending advanced parole applications will be treated).
- USCIS will only accept and process DACA renewal requests received by Oct. 5, 2017, from current applicants whose benefits will expire between Sept. 5, 2017 and March 5, 2018.
Individuals who currently have DACA will be allowed to retain both DACA and their work authorizations (EADs) until they expire.
