The fee structure of
our firm is hourly, with a billable rate of $250 per hour spent
on your case. Our first consultation on your case is FREE and
you are not required to pay anything unless you decide to hire
our services. At the point of hire, we ask that you sign an engagement
contract and pay a minimum legal fee amount, before we can start
working on your case (payment plans may be available upon request
and a signed mutual agreement. We accept all major Credit
Cards). The minimum
legal fee (see fee schedule below) is based on the estimated number
of hours that the average straightforward case of a particular
type, will generally require.
We believe that the hourly billing system is the fairest for both
the client and the firm, as it ensures that the attorneys spend
as much time as necessary to resolve the case. However, having
a minimum legal fee deposit protects the firm from the risk of
non-payment of bills once the time has been worked. At the same
time, this provides the client with an educated estimate of the
number of hours the case should normally take.
In the event that a case has more complications than the average
case (i.e. criminal convictions in an immigration case, etc.)
and we estimate that the case will exceed the minimum legal fee,
you will be informed if possible before starting the case or as
soon as possible after. If the case does go beyond the estimated
time, then you will be billed periodically as the time is accrued.
Another billing option that sometimes is exercised by law firms
is the "flat fee". Our firm rarely offers a flat fee,
because we feel its structure dictates that the profitability
of the work is determined by minimizing the time invested in the
legal matter.
The following is a schedule of our minimum legal fee for some
of our most popular immigration cases. These fees are in addition
to any filing fees and expenses that may apply to the case (for
BCIS fees see the immigration area of this site).
